Motorcycle detailing: what's different from a car

Why bikes need a different approach, and what to ask a motorcycle detailer.

More surfaces, less room

A bike mixes paint, chrome, polished and bare aluminum, powder coat, rubber, leather and exposed engine parts in a small space. Each takes a different product and a lighter touch.

Water and electrics

High-pressure water near electrical connectors, bearings and air intakes can cause problems. Ask how they wash the engine area and how they dry it.

Chrome and metal care

Pitting and bluing on chrome and pipes can often be improved but not always removed. A straight answer about what's possible is a good sign.

Storage and season

Florida riding is year-round, but humidity is hard on a stored bike. Ask about protection for bikes that sit.
